Bob Collins shown at centre and tired cotravellers. Algoma Sled Tours and Bristol Off-Roading Outfitters hosted the Algoma ATV Tourist Association Fall Colour Tour on September 8th to 10th. Organized to develop and promote recreational ATV tourism, the association has assisted in a number of events and activities in Northern Ontario to demonstrate the potential benefits to economics and recreation that exist. This is the first tour through Chapleau and the association hopes to work with the community to develop marketing of this area as a part of the wilderness adventures available for off-road enthusiasts. In 2004 Wawa hosted the first ATV Jamboree and in 2005, Manitouwadge hosted the second one. Visiting riders outnumbered local entries for both events, providing the basis for future events to attract tourists to the area. The association is assessing locations for future events where the community will participate and benefit as hosts. [more...]
