Co-Gen Power Plant Tour
|
Did you know that Co-Gen produces electricity for Hydro One, and steam for lumber drying by burning bark and sawdust that would otherwise go to waste? Join Chapleau Cogeneration on an enlightening of the cogeneration plant. This plant is a privately owned state-of-the-art, seven megawatt wood fired thermal electric generating facility. By safely and cleanly disposing of nearly 100,000 tonnes per year of sawmill waste produced by local saw mills, this plant produces enough electrical energy to theoretically supply all the requirements of the town of Chapleau and most of the surrounding area. The free tours run each Tuesday morning from Mid-June until August (subject to change), from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, and depart from the Centennial Museum on Monk Street. For more information on the COGEN tours, contact the Chapleau Regional Development Corporation: Toll-free 1-877-774-7727 or send an email to: crdc@chapleau.onlink.net |
