Strategic Planning Nearing Completion

During 2007 Services de santé de Chapleau Health Services (SSCHS) held community consultations with various stakeholders, including patients and families, community residents, community health partners, volunteers, physicians, staff and our leadership team. After compiling the data from these consultation sessions, the Board used this valuable information in the formation of the Strategic Plan for SSCHS. The following key strategic directions were identified: 1) To provide cost effective healthcare excellence in the community; 2) To establish an Integrated Quality Management Program; 3) To ensure sufficient professional human resources to fulfill our mission; 4) To increase access to community based services for Chapleau and surrounding area; 5) To work with community partners to ensure appropriate accommodation for our aging population; 6) To provide effective Governance and Leadership.

While the Strategic Plan is undergoing final review and approval, leadership and staff are already hard at work on several different goals and objectives that will lead SSCHS to meeting our plan. Some of these initiatives include: 1) Working outside our hospital mandate by recruiting and securing consistent physician services for the community medical clinic. Funding to operate a community medical clinic is not included in a hospital budget, therefore this puts our hospital in a serious financial and human resource deficit; 2) Active ongoing involvement in physician and other health professional recruitment; 3) Building partnerships with college and university health professional programs; 4) Community consultations regarding senior services; 5) Expansion and enhancement to SSCHS senior community service programs; 6) Revamping of disaster plans; 7) Enhancement of quality management programs; 8) Continuing to meet national standards for accreditation; and 9) Professional education and training programs for staff and board.
